Yorkshire  snatch BCA First division title, Series 8, Day 2, Report, Scores

Bridgetown, Barbados, December 3 – (www.barbadoscricket.org) – IGS Insurance Brokers Yorkshire will be promoted to the BCA Elite division three-day Championship for the first time next season after racing to the First division title today with one round remaining.

The Friendship-based team crushed SigniaGlobe Financial Barbados Youth by an innings and 121 runs inside two days on home turf in Series 8 to earn maximum 20 points, thus romping to an unassailable 131 points.

It was Yorkshire’s sixth win of the season.

Barbados Youth, resuming on 32 for one, were dismissed for 150 in reply to a total of 328. Following-on, they folded for a meagre 57.

Yorkshire began the series on 111 points – 29 ahead of the only other title contenders, Sagicor Life UWI, who needed a maximum 40 points from the last two rounds while hoping for Yorkshire to earn no more than 10 points.

Even so, UWI have already been led on first innings by IDL Walkers Sand Quarry Isolation Cavaliers after falling for 164 in reply to 216 at 3Ws Oval.

UWI are the only side to defeat Yorkshire, coming from behind in the fourth round.
