The Sir Everton Weekes Centre of Excellence (EWCOE) Academy Program
The Sir Everton Weekes Centre of Excellence (EWCOE) was established in June 2008 with the primary aim of developing local cricketers who will have the right mental and physical attributes to be successful at the regional and international levels.
The Academy which been named after one of the illustrious 3Ws, ensures that the most talented male and female cricketers in Barbados are exposed to the best training and development programming on the island.
Individual players are placed in sessions with the best coaching expertise at Kensington Oval and exposed to the modern technological aids such as Pitch Vision and Team Builder.
The coaching and administrative staff within the academy seek to elevate the game of its players in six (6) different age groups:
Under 13 Male
Under 15 Male
Under 17 Male
Under 19 Male
Development (19-23) Male
Females (Junior and Senior)
Aside from fast bowler Kemar Roach, all Barbadians currently representing the West Indies are graduates of the Everton Weekes Centre of Excellence.
The current Chairman is the former Barbadian born cricket Mr. Roland Butcher, who was the 1st Black man from the Caribbean to represent in England in TEST cricket back in 1981.
