Barbados to clash with Leewards in semis after losing by 78 runs to T&T – CWI CG United Super50 Cup

Tarouba, Trinidad, November 5 -(www.barbadoscricket.org) – Barbados Pride finished third in the league phase and will clash with Leeward Islands Hurricanes in the semi-finals on Thursday after losing by 78 runs to unbeaten title favourites Trinidad & Tobago Red Force in the Cricket West Indies (CWI) CG United Super50 Cup Championship at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy today.

Set up by a splendid, unbeaten 139 from captain and Player Of The Match Darren Bravo, Trinidad & Tobago amassed 293 for six off 50 overs after they were sent in.

Batting at No. 3, experienced left-hander Bravo, seeking a return to the West Indies team after playing his last One-Day International match on February 11, 2022, slammed nine fours and seven sixes.

He now has 323 runs (Ave: 80.75) – five runs behind the tournament’s batsman with the most runs, Barbadian all-rounder Justin Greaves, who is representing the Leeward Islands for the first time after playing for Windward Islands Volcanoes last season.

Greaves’ 328 runs have come at an outstanding average of 109.33 and include a maiden List A century (121).

Roston Chase took three for 50 and fellow off-spinner Kemar Smith, two for 46 – both off 10 overs.

Barbados were bowled out for 215 in 47.2 overs.

All-rounder Chase hit the top-score of 48 off 46 balls including five fours and two sixes.

No. 9 Akeem Jordan scored 40 off 47 deliveries with four fours and three sixes.

Retiring off-spinner Sunil Narine took four for 13 and left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein, three for 31. Both bowled 10 overs.

It was the third defeat for Barbados.

Trinidad & Tobago will oppose Guyana Harpy Eagles in the other semi-final on Wednesday.

The semi-finals as well as the Final on Saturday will all be played at the Brian Lara Academy, starting at 1 p.m.
