Smith smashes his second century of season in T20 Cup

Bridgetown, Barbados, May 15 – ( – Dwayne Smith struck his second century of the season in the BCA Elite/Division 1 Twenty20 Cup as Bayview Hospital YMPC crushed Maple by 150 runs in Series 7.

Playing on home turf at Beckles Road in Zone ‘B’, Smith made an unbeaten 111 in an unbroken first wicket partnership of 218 with Raymond Kellman, who made 89 not out.

Smith, a former Barbados and West Indies player, faced 68 balls and hit 18 threes and 10 fours while Kellman received 53 deliveries and counted nine threes and 12 fours.

Maple were dismissed for 68 in 16.3 overs with pacer Antonio Austin grabbing five for 10.

It was a record fourth hundred for Smith in the Tournament, which started in 2008.


At Waterford ‘A’: Set up by a century opening stand between Craig St. Hill and Demetrius Richards, Wildey swept aside Nicholls Baking Combermere by 126 runs under the Duckworth/Lewis/Stern method.

Wildey scored 201 for three off 18 overs after St. Hill and Richards added 159 in 14.2 overs.

St. Hill made 89 not out off 56 balls with six fours and four sixes and Richards 72 off 41 deliveries including six fours and five sixes.

Set a revised target of 209, Combermere struggled to 82 for four. Nathan Forde scored 37 not out.

At KMV Oval: Rain and a lack of covers led to a no result after IDL Walkers Sand Quarry Isolation Cavaliers made 115 for eight off 20 overs against ESA Field Pickwick.

Micah Thornhill hit the top score of 35.

There was a downpour during the break and with no covers at the ground, conditions were unfavourable for a resumption of play as the pitch became waterlogged.

At Weymouth: With an enterprising display, SigniaGlobe Financial Barbados Youth ‘A’ beat Police by six wickets.

Police managed 96 for nine after winning the toss.

Pacer Rashad Worrell took three for 13.

Barbados Youth ‘A’ triumphed with six overs remaining as No. 3 Joshua Haynes raced to 38 off 18 balls including three fours and three sixes.

At Bayfield: Paved by an opening partnership of 70 in 7.4 overs between Zachary McCaskie and Odain McCatty, Sagicor Life UWI ‘A’ beat St. Catherine by five wickets.

A target of 147 was achieved with eight balls to spare.

McCatty scored 43 off 26 balls including four fours and two sixes and McCaskie made 35, also off 26 deliveries. Kyle Corbin was unbeaten on 30.

In St. Catherine’s 146 for eight, opener Zidane Harewood hit the top score of 46 off 22 balls containing five fours and two sixes, while Dwayne Skeete contributed 30.

At Bank Hall: Empire beat BWU Gladiola by five runs under the Duckworth/Lewis/Stern method after fading light ended play.

Chasing 129 in 20 overs, Gladiola were 96 for six off 16 overs when play was called off at 6.08 p.m.

Captain Giovonte Depeiza topscored with 39.

Pacer Jarion Hoyte took three for 15.

Empire scored 128 for eight following an opening stand of 54 in 6.4 overs between Jai-Bari Yarde (29) and captain Kevin Stoute (25). Andre Roach topscored with 31 at No. 3.

Off-spinner Michael Agard took three for 11.


At 3Ws Oval: Johnnel Eugene made a commanding half-century in helping Sagicor Life UWI ‘B’ to a 34-run win against Wanderers.

Eugene scored 80 off 48 balls with seven sixes and two fours at No. 3 in a total of 153 for nine.

Kymani Richardson picked up three for 14.

Wanderers were bowled out for 119 in 19.2 overs. Tevyn Walcott made 38.

Simeon Gerson took three for 28.

At Church Hill: Shomari Davis and Tyreque Nurse hit half-centuries and medium-pacer Dayne Doughty grabbed a five-wicket haul as Foundation beat Lords by 39 runs.

Foundation made 186 for six with opener Davis scoring 65 off 33 balls including six fours and five sixes and Nurse an unbeaten 51 off 26 deliveries containing three fours and three sixes at No. 4.

Khalid Springer took three for 34.

Lords were dismissed for 147 in 19.5 overs.

Jamali Lynch got 32.

Doughty took five for 16 off 3.5 overs and Joshua Jones, three for 41.

At Queen’s Park: Carlton crushed Spartan by seven wickets.

Sent in, Spartan managed only 62 in 18.5 overs.

Jebari Hunte took three for 19.

Carlton got to the target in 10.4 overs.

At Lodge ‘A’, Society: Skipper Akeem Nero scored an attacking, unbeaten half-century and leg-spinner Tariq Hoyte took three wickets as IGS Insurance Brokers Yorkshire beat SigniaGlobe Financial Barbados Youth ‘B’ by 48 runs (D/L method).

Nero made 72 not out off 48 balls with 12 fours and one six in a total of 132 for three off 16 overs.

With a revised target of 137, Barbados Youth ‘B’ scored 88 for eight.

Captain Zion Brathwaite made 35.

Hoyte took three for 11.
