Rain wreaks havoc in Series 8 of BCA Super Cup

Bridgetown, Barbados, August 7 – (www.barbadoscricket.org) – Rain wreaked havoc in Series 8 of the BCA Elite/Division 1 Super Cup Championship today.

Not a ball was bowled in eight of the ten scheduled matches.

Play started in the other two – IGS Insurance Brokers Yorkshire v Police at Friendship and Sagicor Life UWI ‘B’ v St. Catherine at 3Ws Oval – but there was an abandonment after only 17 balls at Friendship with the home team reaching 17 for one.

UWI ‘B’ won by 16 runs (DLS method) in a match highlighted by an attacking half-century from Chemar Holder.

Better known for his fast bowling, Holder scored 74 off 39 balls with two fours and eight sixes at No. 6 as UWI ‘B’ recovered from 64 for five in the 16th over before they were bowled out for 162 in 28.5 overs of a reduced 29-over allotment.

Off-spinner Dwayne Skeete was the leading wicket-taker with four for 21 off five overs.

Set a revised target of 168 to win, St. Catherine were restricted to 151 for nine.

Tahj Tavernier took four for 20 off six overs.
