Rain limits play on opening day of third round Elite division matches
Bridgetown, Barbados, September 17 – (www.barbadoscricket.org) – Rain heavily impacted play on the opening day of Series 3 matches in the BCA Elite division three-day Championship today.
The most progress was at Bayfield as 14 wickets tumbled for 171 runs.
Sent in, Bayview Hospital YMPC recovered from losing three wickets in the first over from pacer Dario Cumberbatch to score 143 all out in 32 overs against St. Catherine.
Shakib Kellman hit the topscore of 41 at No. 7. Captain Jadan Jones made 28 and Damien Davis 24.
Cumberbatch took three for 18, Ulric Batson, three for 28 and Dashawn Thompson-Norville, three for 37.
St. Catherine limped to 28 for four off 10.5 overs at stumps with opener Neil Browne on 20 not out.
Davis has three for 19.
At Bank Hall: SigniaGlobe Financial Barbados Youth reached 106 for five off 40 overs after losing the toss against Empire.
Akeem McCollin was unbeaten on 34.
Left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican has three for 32.
At Dayrells Road: Solid unbeaten half-centuries from skipper Kraigg Brathwaite and Jonathan Drakes propelled Wanderers to 173 for one off 39 overs after winning the toss against BWU Gladiola.
The pair came together after Shayne Moseley was leg before wicket without scoring by pacer Kadeem Alleyne in the second over of the match.
Brathwaite, the West Indies Test captain, was 71 not out off 109 balls in 152 minutes, hitting four fours and one six, while Drakes was on 86 not out off 124 deliveries in 145 minutes, including 10 fours and two sixes. They have added 171.
Drakes was dropped on 76 by wicketkeeper Martin Nurse off off-spinner Renaldo Brathwaite.
At Queen’s Park: Championship leaders Wildey were 77 for one off 16 overs after they were sent in by title holders Spartan.
At the crease were captain Craig St. Hill on 31 and Demetrious Richards 20.
Shanaldo Taylor scored 22.
At Desmond Haynes Oval: Carlton were 15 for one off 10.3 overs against Sagicor Life UWI, who won the toss.
