BCA NEWS RELEASE # 22/21
POSTPONEMENT TO THE START OF 2021 BCA DOMESTIC SEASON
Further to the National Press Conference held earlier today by the Prime Minister of
Barbados, the BCA wishes to advise that the new Government of Barbados’ Directive
relating to Sporting activities states that there should be no contact nor team sports for
two (2) weeks in the first instance. This new Directive will become effective from
Saturday September 11, 2021.
The BCA therefore wishes to advise that the commencement of the 2021 BCA Domestic
Competition has been postponed until further notice. We will advise of the new start date
for the season in a subsequent notice once conditions improve and the Directive has been
lifted.
The BCA strongly advises all clubs and schools to take this seriously and desist from
engaging in practice sessions and practice matches during the time that this Directive is
in place.
While not mandating vaccinations, the BCA would like to take this opportunity to urge all
unvaccinated players, club officials and match officials to become vaccinated as soon as
possible.
