McCaskie set for century in second Barbados Pride 3-day practice match

Bridgetown, Barbados, January 30 – (www.barbadoscricket.org) – Zachary McCaskie is on the verge of a century in the second Barbados Pride three-day practice match at Dayrells Road.

Opener McCaskie stroked his way to 97 not out and Jonathan Carter made 76 as they featured in a third-wicket century partnership, to pilot Carter’s X1 to 220 for three off 52 overs in reply to a first innings total of 318 for six declared off 95.1 overs by Kraigg Brathwaite’s X1 at stumps on the second day.

McCaskie has faced 135 balls in 225 minutes, striking 14 fours and two sixes.

He and Carter added 113 before left-hander Carter fell to leg-spinner Javed Leacock.

Carter hit ten fours and two sixes. He received 81 balls in his 100-minute innings.

From an overnight 208 for three off 71 overs, Brathwaite’s X1 declared at lunch.

Jonathan Drakes, who started the day on 50, made 66 off 143 balls in 234 minutes with 10 fours and one six before he was caught at gully by Kyle Hope, cutting off pacer Akeem Jordan.

Shane Dowrich was unbeaten on 65 off 72 balls in 93 minutes, also hitting 10 fours and one six, having resumed on 26. He had retired on 65, feeling unwell.

Drakes and Dowrich put on exactly 100 for the fourth wicket.

West Indies Test left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican was the leading wicket-taker with three for 55 off 25.1 overs, while Jordan picked up two for 50 off 19 overs.
