Kraigg Brathwaite hits 12th BCA Elite division century

Bridgetown, Barbados, September 10 – (www.barbadoscricket.org) – West Indies Test captain Kraigg Brathwaite hit his 12th BCA Elite division century on the second day of Series 2 to put Wanderers in a strong position to beat Bayview Hospital YMPC at Beckles Road.

Batting at No. 5 at the start of the day with Wanderers resuming on 64 for three, skipper Brathwaite scored 104 in a total of 273 all out – a first innings lead 124.

He struck 18 threes and one four off 104 balls in 163 minutes before retiring out – the seventh wicket – with the score 240.

Pacer Mali Marshall was the top wicket-taker with three for 48 off 16 overs.

YMPC were struggling on 35 for four in their second innings at the close of play – still 89 runs in arrears.

At Rices: BWU Gladiola are also in a strong position to beat Carlton.

In reply to a first innings total of 178 for nine declared, Carlton were dismissed for 90.

Left-arm spinner Richard Sampson was the main wrecker with five for 28 off 9.4 overs.

Gladiola scored 169 for eight declared in the second innings, led by 55 off 32 balls from veteran Martin Nurse at No. 7. Opener Kodi Phillips made 47.

Off-spinner Jaden Brooks took five for 55 off 7.1 overs.

Carlton require 258 for victory.

At Bayfield: Opener Neil Browne scored his second half-century of the match for St. Catherine against SigniaGlobe Financial Barbados Youth.

After Barbados Youth were bowled out for 173 to be led on first innings by 56 – Javere Callender was the leading bowler with for 37 off 16.4 overs – Browne was unbeaten on 56 as the home team closed on 127 for five – an overall lead of 183.

At SJPIT: Shanaldo Taylor and Jerome Jones struck half-centuries as Wildey gained a 34-run lead on first innings over Empire.

Left-hander Taylor made 62 off 81 balls with four fours and two sixes and Jerome Jones scored 55 off 75 deliveries including four fours and fours sixes.

Shane Jones also played a vital knock of 42 off 32 balls with five fours and two sixes at No. 9 as Wildey scored 284 all out after starting the day on 39 without loss.

With Tariq O’Neale (12), Shane Jones added 53 for the ninth wicket.

Earlier, Demetrius Richards scored 31 before the first wicket at 110.

Left-arm spinner Camarie Boyce took four for 85 off 20 overs and off-spinner Shakkae Marshall, three for 50 off 14 overs.

Empire closed on four without loss in the second innings.

At Queen’s Park: Captain Akeem Springer scored 87 as Fusionz Boutique Spartan gained a first innings lead of 60 against Sagicor Life UWI.

Opener Springer faced 141 balls and hit 10 fours and three sixes in a total of 215 all out.

Joshua Drakes contributed 36 not out and Chaim Holder 30.

Fast bowler Chemar Holder took six for 48 off 17 overs.

UWI were 34 for one in their second innings at stumps.
