Kemar Smith (5-56), Bend (80 not out) as rain again limits play in Elite division

Bridgetown, Barbados, November 5 – (www.barbadoscricket.org) – All-rounder Kemar Jabarry Smith of Bayview Hospital YMPC snatched his third five-wicket haul for the season and Fusionz Boutique Spartan batsman Marrodon Bend hit an unbeaten half-century as rain again affected play immensely on the second day of Series 6 in the BCA Elite division three-day Championship today.

Not a ball was bowled in two matches while fading light ended play early in the other three.

At SJPIT: Following no play on the opening day because of wet conditions, second-placed Wildey scored 188 for eight off 32 overs after they were sent in by YMPC, who are in third position.

Demetrius Richards scored 44 and Aaron Jones 43 with the pair adding 78 for the third wicket following an opening partnership of 66 between Shanaldo Taylor (36) and Craig St. Hill (22).

Off-spinner Kemar Smith took five for 54, pushing his tally of wickets to 20 (Ave: 13.50), along with two centuries in an aggregate of 267 (Ave: 53.40) in four matches.

At Queen’s Park: Defending champions Spartan were 149 for three off 48.3 overs after starting the day on five without loss off one over against St. Catherine.

Marrodon Bend, searching for his first century of the season, was unbeaten on 80 off 143 balls in 198 minutes with seven fours and one six.

Opener Nicholas Carter made 34 and Joshua Drakes was 25 not out.

Left-arm spinner Damien Browne has two for 28.

At 3Ws Oval: Play was abandoned at 2:40 p.m. without a ball bowled because of wet conditions.

Sagicor Life UWI, languishing one from the bottom of the Points table, are to resume on 52 for four in reply to a first innings total of 103 for nine declared by Championship leaders BWU Gladiola.

At Waterford ‘A’: Wet conditions prevented play, which was called off at 3:22 p.m.

Wanderers are to continue on 156 for three in their first innings against SigniaGlobe Financial Barbados Youth.
