Gladiola beat UWI ‘A’ in key clash of BCA T20 Cup

Bridgetown, Barbados, April 30 – ( – BWU Gladiola beat defending champions UWI ‘A’ by six wickets in their top-of-the-table Series 6 Zone ‘A’ match at Rices in the BCA Elite/Division 1 Twenty20 Cup Championship today.

After losing the toss, UWI ‘A’ were bowled out for 121 in 18.5 overs.

Three batsmen got into the 20s – all-rounder Matthew Forde (26) Kyle Corbin (23) and Shaqkere Parris (22).

Stefon Griffith took four for 25, Kemar Harte, two for 13, Miguel Cummins, two for 15 and Korie miller, two for 20.

The home team triumphed with 19 balls remaining as captain Ashley Nurse, with an unbeaten 36 off 25 balls and Matthew Jones, who scored 35 not out off 19 balls, featured in a partnership of 69 in 6.3 overs.

Leg-spinner Javed Leacock took two for 27.

Gladiola are now the only team with maximum points (24).

Medium-pacer Khalil Herbert grabbed a hat-trick as IDL Walkers Sand Quarry Isolation Cavaliers beat Little Fabian Enterprises Maple by 16 runs at Trents to record their first win in Zone ‘B’.

Chasing 101 to win, Maple, batting with one player short, fell for 84 in 18 overs.

The hat-trick victims were top-scorer Michael Rawlins (24), who was caught by Jamaine Bullen and Salvon Mayers and Rico Depeiza, who were both bowled.

Herbert finished with three for 10 off three overs.

Tradayne Clarke took three for 19 and Bullen, two for eight.

Bullen, with 38, was the only batsman to reach double-figures in a total of 100 all out in 14.3 overs after Isolation Cavaliers were sent in.

Don O’neal took four for 16.
