Four teams maintain maximum points after Round 4 in BCA T20 Cup

Bridgetown, Barbados, May 1 – ( – Four teams – Wildey, Sagicor Life UWI ‘A’ and Empire in Zone ‘A’, along with Carlton in Zone ‘B’ – maintained their winning ways after the fourth round of matches in the 2022 BCA Elite/Division 1 Twenty20 Cup Tournament.

But there is still a struggle for defending champions Gladiola who suffered a third defeat – this time by two wickets off the very last ball against Police on home turf at Rices.


At Bayfield: St. Catherine beat IDL Walkers Sand Quarry Isolation Cavaliers by 11 runs.

Led by fine half-centuries from Neil Browne and Ulric Batson, St. Catherine made 168 for four.

Opener Browne scored 70 off 60 balls with four fours and four sixes, while Batson lashed 60 off 27 deliveries including four fours and five sixes – four of them in succession off medium-pacer Rashad Willoughby in an over which cost 31 runs.

Browne and Batson put on 98 in 9.2 overs for the third wicket.

Isolation Cavaliers were given a brisk start by Khalil Herbert and Kevin Greene, who added 87 in 10.4 overs for the first wicket before ending on 157 for eight.

Left-hander Herbert scored 70 off 45 balls with eight fours and three sixes. Greene made 36.

Pacer Orion Seale took four for 44 off four overs.

Isolation Cavaliers have lost all of their matches.

At Rices: Mario Albert spurred Police to a two-wicket win over Gladiola with another half-century.

Chasing 138 to win, Police triumphed off the very last ball.

Albert scored 64 off 43 balls including six threes and six fours.

Captain Karran Bhola contributed 33.

Gladiola made 137 for five with the top score of 47 coming from skipper Javon Searles. Kodi Phillips got 31.

Medium-pacer Kirk Brome took three for 21.

At Bank Hall: Empire easily defeated Nicholls Baking Combermere by 90 runs.

The home team scored 167 for five, led by 50 off 28 balls from Jai-Bari Yarde. Kofie Hurdle made 41 not out.

Combermere struggled to 77 for nine as left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican took three for 12.

At 3Ws Oval: A commanding half-century from captain Nicholas Kirton led UWI ‘A’ to an eight-wicket victory over ESA Field Pickwick.

UWI ‘A’ achieved their target of 166 with 2.4 overs to spare as left-hander Kirton scored 79 off 45 balls including four fours and four sixes.

Pickwick made 161 for three.

Opener Shai Hope scored 58 off 40 balls containing five sixes and one four, while Antonio Morris raced to 43 not out off 21 balls with four sixes and two fours.

At SJPI: An unbeaten 58 off 46 balls with seven fours and one six by Craig St. Hill lifted Wildey to a six-wicket win against SigniaGlobe Financial Barbados Youth ‘A’ as they chased 124.

Rashad Worrell took three for 16.

In a Barbados Youth ‘A’ total of 123 for nine, Joshua Haynes made 45 and Malik Young 30.

Left-arm pacer Jerome Jones took three for 21 and seamer Akeem Jordan, three for 35.


At Queen’s Park: Sagicor Life UWI ‘B’ kept their nerves to beat Spartan by four runs.

Needing 165 to win, Spartan were restricted to 160 for six.

Shamarh Brooks scored 59 off 36 balls with four fours and three sixes and Chaim Holder 32 off 22 balls.

UWI ‘B’ made 164 for three with Tahj Tavernier hitting an unbeaten 56 off 36 balls containing four sixes and one four.

Te-Shawn Alleyne also scored 56 not out off 35 balls with four sixes and two fours.

At Lowlands: IGS Insurance Brokers Yorkshire had a couple anxious moments before beating Lords by five wickets with three balls remaining.

Jesse Bootan topscored with 38 off the same number of balls as Yorkshire chased 112. Lamar Worrell got 26 and Indal Persaud, 22 not out.

Xavier Roach took three for 12.

Lords made 111 for eight with Jamali Lynch scoring 25 and Khalid Springer (23).

Pacer Shakeem John-Ruck took three for 16 and leg-spinner Tariq Hoyte, three for 26.

At Waterford ‘A’: Bayview Hospital YMPC defeated SigniaGlobe Financial Barbados Youth ‘B’ by 30 runs.

YMPC scored 130 for seven, led by 37 from captain Dwayne Smith.

Barbados Youth ‘B’ fell for 100 in 17.3 overs with Jayden Webster making 28.

Off-spinner Kevin Gittens took four for 20.

At Dayrells Road: Opener Leniko Boucher starred with an unbeaten 79 as Carlton defeated Wanderers by seven wickets with five balls to spare.

Boucher faced 55 balls and struck 11 fours and one six after Carlton were set 145 to win.

With Rashawn Worrell (32), Boucher added 94 in 11.3 overs for the first wicket.

Wanderers made 144 for six.

Jonathan Drakes scored 42 off 32 balls including three sixes and two fours and Raymon Reifer 32 off 25 balls.

At Trents: Left-arm spinner Shaquille Phillips grabbed five for 13 off four overs to spur Maple to a 35-run win against Foundation.

Requiring 120 for victory, the school team fell for 84 in 15.1 overs. Captain Nathan Sealy scored 30.

Maple made 119 for six with Stephen Payne hitting the top score of 30.
