Sealy snatches second six-for as Barbados hit back against Leeward Islands

Kingstown, St. Vincent, July 26 – ( – Inspirational Barbados captain and left-arm spinner Nathan Sealy snatched his second six-wicket haul in successive matches as the Championship leaders hit back against defending champions Leeward Islands on the second day of the third and penultimate round in the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Rising Stars men’s Under-19 three-day Championship today.

Playing at international venue Arnos Vale, Sealy took six for 31 off 19.5 overs and with support from rookie off-spinner Saurav Worrell, who picked up three for 39 off 18 overs, helped bowl Leeward Islands out for 123 in 44.5 overs, replying to a first innings total of 101 all out off 46 overs.

For the Leewards, opener Michael Palmer hit the top-score of 27 while Michael Greaves made 21 at No. 3. Both were dismissed by Sealy.

Barbados were 141 for four off 45 overs in their second innings – an overall lead of 119.

Opener Achilles Browne made 44 off 131 balls with three fours.

Other useful contributions came from left-hander Nimar Bolden (28), Zion Brathwaite (24), Joshua Dorne (18) and wicketkeeper Joshua Morris, who was unbeaten on 17.

Earlier, Barbados added just four to their overnight score of 97 for nine.

All-rounder Sealy, a student at Foundation School, has now rushed to 20 wickets at an outstanding average of 8.70, having sent down 75.3 overs. In the previous match against Trinidad & Tobago at Park Hill, he took 10 for 65 off 31 overs including six for 37 off 16 overs in the first innings as Barbados triumphed by an innings and nine runs with a day to spare, following an 80-run win against Guyana at the same venue.

Barbados went into the current round on 45.4 points, followed by Guyana 28.8, Windward Islands 26, Trinidad & Tobago 23.6, Leeward Islands 21 and Jamaica 19.4.
