Bridgetown, Barbados, December 18 – (www.barbadoscricket.org) – Edwin Currency-Barnett converted his overweek unbeaten double-hundred to a first and historic triple-century on the penultimate day of the BCA Schools’ three-day Championship on Saturday.

Resuming from an already mammoth 399 for five, new champions Graydon Sealy Secondary eventually declared at a whopping 499 without further loss against St. George Secondary at Bayville.

Currency-Barnett carried his score from 227 to 316 not out. The record-breaking feat was laced with 46 fours and 13 sixes.  He shared in an unbroken sixth- wicket stand of 135 with Jermaine Forde, who only made two.

The previous highest score in the tournament was Nyeem Young’ s 299 for The St. Michael School against Deighton Griffith Secondary in 2017.

Today on the last day of the ninth and final series of matches, St. George Secondary will resume on 132 for nine, trailing by 367 runs on first innings.

Off-spinner Tyrek Boyce has taken five for 28 to follow-up his knock of 84.

A win for unbeaten Graydon Sealy will mean their fifth victory at home from the same number of matches, including the last four on the trot.

It will also give them eight wins with one draw and they can end the season with a record 67 points – the highest ever in the competition’s history.
