Centuries for Smith, Primus in Series 8 of BCA T20 Cup

Bridgetown, Barbados, May 21 – (www.barbadoscricket.org) – Dwayne Smith hit a record third century of the season for Bayview Hospital YMPC and Roshon Primus of Wanderers slammed his second as both teams pulled off vital wins in Series 8 of the BCA Elite/Division 1 Twenty20 Cup Championship.

Playing in Zone ‘B’, Smith made 119 off 59 balls including 11 threes and 17 fours in a total of 204 for four against leaders Carlton who suffered their first defeat – by 27 runs at Beckles Road.

Smith is now the only player to score five centuries in the Tournament, which started in 2008.

In the same zone, Primus clobbered an unbeaten 122 off 44 balls with 11 fours and 10 sixes to spur Wanderers to a nine-wicket win over Foundation as they chased 196 at Dayrells Road.

Going into the final round of matches on Sunday, six teams – Sagicor Life UWI ‘A’, Wildey, Empire, ESA Field Pickwick (all in Zone ‘A’), Carlton and Sagicor Life UWI ‘B’ (Zone ‘B’) – have qualified for the quarter-finals, slated for May 28.

Mathematically, four teams – IGS Insurance Brokers Yorkshire, Spartan, Wanderers and YMPC – are battling for the last two places.
