Bowens slams record third century in CCL Under-16 Competition

Bridgetown, Barbados, February 13 – ( – Barbados Under-15 batsman Gadson Bowens slammed a record third consecutive hundred in the Community Cricket League (CCL) Under-16, 35-over competition.

Playing for Franklyn Stephenson’s Aces, the left-handed opener struck 100 not out against Cric Mechanics at Briar Hall in Round 7 on February 5.

It followed an undefeated knock of 160 – the highest individual score to date – against Wanderers Juniors at Bennett’s in Series 4 and 104 against Northern Academy at Alexandra School in Series 5. He missed Series 6 due to the ongoing national Under-15 trial matches.

Bowens also made 87 against Empire and 66 against North Stars earlier in the tournament.

In the eighth series on Sunday, he made 44 against Community Cricket League Colts, to take his aggregate to 561`runs – the most overall – from seven innings with two not outs, at an outstanding average of 140.75.

Bowens was vice-captain of the Barbados team that captured last year’s CWI regional Under-15 Championship in Grenada.

School-wise, the 15-year-old Bowens represented Graydon Sealy Secondary, the reigning champions of the BCA Schools’ three-day competition. He amassed 439 runs from ten innings including a highest score of 111, before he went on to represent Barbados Youth in the BCA First Division championship during the last four matches of the 2022 season. He then scored 160 runs from seven innings with a highest of 46.

At the start of last season, Bowens also played for Combermere School in the BCA Super Cup and T20 competitions under the playing regulations, which allow such a move.
