Perryman hits 97, Carter 69 not out as second Legends match opens
Bridgetown, Barbados, January 17 – (www.barbadoscricket.org) – Opener Hakeem Perryman missed a century by three runs and captain Jonathan Carter hit an unbeaten half-century as Sir Gordon Greenidge X1 reached 238 for five in their first innings against Sir Charles Griffith X1 on a rain-shortened first day of the second three-day match in the Barbados Legends Series at Kensington Oval today.
After wet conditions wiped out play before lunch, left-hander Perryman, who played for the Barbados Under-19 team last year, exhibited some fine strokes in his knock of 97 before he was fourth out, caught at mid-on by Zidane Clarke off off-spinner Chaim Holder.
Perryman, who now represents Empire, faced 121 balls in 225 minutes and struck 14 fours and one six.
He put on 86 for the second wicket with Kadeem Alleyne, who made 41 off 55 balls including five fours and one six following the early dismissal of Shian Brathwaite, who was caught in the slips by Kevin Wickham off fast bowler Keon Harding for two with the score 11.
Medium-pacer Jamaine Bullen removed all-rounder Alleyne and Antonio Morris in succession in one over. Alleyne was caught at deep mid-on by skipper Nicholas Kirton and five balls later, Morris was caught at point by Joshua Bishop without scoring.
Perryman and veteran Carter then put on 111 for the fourth wicket.
Kemar Smith was the other wicket to fall, leg before wicket on the back foot for 12 off left-arm spinner Bishop.
Carter is unbeaten on 69 off 111 balls in 136 minutes with eight fours and one six, partnered by Nyeem Young on one.
Bullen has two for 24 off six overs.
