BARBADOS JUNIOR MALE SQUAD CONFIDENT OF RETAINING UNDER 17 REGIONAL TITLE
The Barbados Junior Male squad for the CWI Regional Under 17 Male Tournament are determined to record a hat-trick of championship titles when the 2022 tournament is held in Trinidad & Tobago from July 17 to 28, 2022. Barbados are the defending champions having won the 2018 and 2019 Regional Titles. There was a forced suspension of the tournament for the two year period 2020 and 2021, due to the Covid-19 global pandemic.
On the eve of the team departure to the competition, Head Coach of the squad Dexter Toppin stated:
‘I am very confident of Barbados repeating as champions, but it will not be easy. Some of the guys played at the regional Under-15 level but did not get the chance to play at the Under-17 level in the last two years as mentioned earlier because of Covid. So I expect that it is likely to be a challenging Tournament but we want to show consistency in our performance. (KH/DT)’ The confirmed CWI tournament fixtures may be seen below:
