Barbados overcome middle order collapse to beat Windwards by 3 wickets – CWI Under-17, Round 2

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, August 14 – (www.barbadoscricket.org – Despite a middle order collapse Barbados defeated Windward Islands by three wickets in Round 2 of the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Rising Stars Boys’ Under-17 50-over Tournament at Gilbert Park today.

Left-arm spinner Kirt Murray then raised the Windwards’ hopes of a dramatic win by snapping up the next three wickets – Joshua Branch (14), Preston Clarke (0) and Akeem McCollin (5), each in successive overs – before Shaquan Belle (10 not out) settled the Barbados nerves.

Belle ended the match by clouting Joseph for six.

Left-hander Bowens, a student at Graydon Sealy Secondary, featured in a second wicket partnership of 57 in 13.2 overs with Jaden Webster, who made 21 off 39 balls including one four and one six following the dismissal of captain Zion Brathwaite for six with the score 25 in the fifth over.
