Alleyne (55 not out) as Barbados beat Jamaica by 9 wickets, CWI Women’s T20, Round 3
Basseterre, St. Kitts, May 23 – (www.barbadoscricket.org) – All-rounder Aaliyah Alleyne struck an unbeaten half-century to spur Barbados to a nine-wicket win with 19 balls remaining against defending champions Jamaica in the key third round match of the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Women’s Twenty20 Blaze at Warner Park today.
Alleyne, a West Indies Women’s player, made 55 not out off the same number of balls with eight fours as Barbados cruised to a target of 99 in 16.5 overs.
She added 62 in 11.1 overs for the first wicket with left-hander Kycia Knight, who made 28 off 33 balls.
Jamaica scored 98 for four off 20 overs after they were sent in.
Veteran West Indies all-rounder Stafanie Taylor top-scored with 34 not out off 43 balls including four boundaries at No. 3.
Crafty leg-spinner Keila Elliott took two for nine off three overs.
Barbados and Jamaica have each won two matches and lost once.
