BCA AND MINISTRY OF EDUCATION JOINTLY HOST COACHING CLINIC AT KENSINGTON OVAL

The Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) and the Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational Training recently hosted a specialized skills coaching clinic where twenty-five (25) Physical Education teachers both from primary and secondary schools participated.   The course was held on November 16, 2022 at Kensington Oval and was seen as a developmental opportunity for teachers to enhance their technical knowledge and their ability to design, implement and conduct sessions within their respective schools.

The basic components of cricket were taught with the emphasis on fostering their students’ love and enjoyment of the game.  The Chief Education Officer, Dr. Ramona Archer-Bradshaw, endorsed the collaboration and commended the teachers for their interest in the course. She stated “This partnership was critical to building the capacity of Physical Education teachers and would enhance students’ learning outcomes”

The activity is the first of many initiatives where the BCA will partner with the Ministry of Education in aligning its efforts to improve teacher effectiveness across the system as part of the Ministry’s overall strategic plan.

The BCA team who led the clinic included Robin Parris, Henderson Springer, Jabbar Niles and Dexter Toppin.
